Your Mission
We build software that helps complex teams think together — across organisational boundaries, time zones, and security requirements. Our customers include public sector bodies, enterprises, and defence organisations that rely on us not just as a collaboration solution, but for data sovereignty and operational reliability. That's a high bar — and we take it seriously.
As Engineering Manager, you own two product teams (Frontend, Backend, Fullstack) end to end. You don't just keep things running — you create the conditions that make great engineering possible in the first place. You work on the system, not just in it: building the operating model that enables predictable delivery and real growth. This is a build role — you set up what doesn't exist yet, and hold it together once it does.
Your Responsibilities
- Engineering leadership — Own performance management end to end: regular 1:1s, honest feedback, individual development plans — and the difficult conversations that come with genuinely developing people. You also lead the hiring process for your teams.
- Delivery, quality & flow — Be accountable for your teams' results: predictable delivery, clear quality standards, and outcome KPIs that you help define and consistently track.
- Operating model — Establish the routines, processes, and guardrails (engineering standards, security, compliance) that enable your teams to do good work — and make sure they actually stick.
- Prioritisation & focus — Help your teams find the right balance between speed, quality, scope, and impact. Translate product and business strategy into concrete engineering priorities — and protect focus when it matters.
- Upward contribution — Bring technical and delivery-relevant topics onto the leadership agenda. Be an active part of the tech leadership team and help shape Conceptboard's broader technical direction.
